1 Year Graduate Degree Programs at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design

Johns Hopkins University offers one of the nation’s leading 1 year graduate degree programs for bioengineering students. Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) offers an MSE program that runs from the start of summer through the end of the spring semester. Students graduate with a Master’s of Science in Engineering, as well as unique industry experience.

Ideal for driven individuals who are interested in disruptive innovation, the CBID program is widely regarded as one of the most challenging bioengineering programs in the nation. It combines:

  • Clinical observations, both nearby (at Johns Hopkins Hospital) and abroad (in one of our partner clinics in a third-world country)
  • An immersive, hands-on device development and production program, in which students work with each other and a team of academic advisors to create a novel technology
  • A condensed academic curriculum in the summer, fall and spring semesters, focusing primarily on the business of bioengineering and the principles of global health innovation and design

This program is open to individuals with a variety of backgrounds, from engineering and medicine to other related fields. Anyone who can demonstrate an ability to contribute to a collaborative biomedical engineering environment will be considered, regardless of his or her undergraduate degree. First-round interviews are conducted in January, and those who are chosen for admission will be notified by the end of March.
