Research matters: America’s med tech pipeline is fueled by federal support

Recently an interview regarding; ‘NeuroTech Harbor’ program, an NIH-funded partnership between Johns Hopkins, Howard University, and the NIH’s innovative new BluePrint Medtech program was highlighted on the Hub affiliated with JHU magazine.

In this highlight; Youseph Yazdi (director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) demonstrated incredible confidence in the power and rate of innovation in med tech occurring in America. He stated; “Med tech is one of the few industries where America leads.” From this interview, Yazdi uncovers and expands on the direct conversion between federal funding in universities which he explains holds the power to convert currency to knowledge.

The NeuroTech Harbor program aims to take viable concepts based on established research to the spotlight, which increases potential for private capital to then enter and take them to production and the marketplace. Recently under this program, 20 teams are currently being funded.Yazdi is incredibly optimistic for what the future of the NeuroTech Harbor program may hold.

CBID is incredibly enthusiastic by the progression of sound research through sustained funding efforts, and is so pleased to see put forwards this highlight.
