Empowering Sight: Visilant’s $15K Award Fuels Accessible Eye Care in South India
The Pava Marie LaPere Center for Entrepreneurship at JHU recently held their annual ‘President’s Venture Fellowship and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Challenge.’ The Pava center is committed to fostering novel ideas/solutions and empowering students who are prospective change-makers.
Here at CBID, we are so excited to share that the CBID team ‘Visilant’ received the ‘Alumni Ventures Award,’ which included $15,000 to their company. The goal of Visilant is to provide accessible vision care, in rural, vulnerable areas of South India. The team has created a community-based telemedicine screening program, which allows the Aravind Eye Hospital to expand it’s outreach in South India. This is a wonderful achievement and testament to the continual hard work that comes with being an innovator in healthcare. We are so proud of Visilant.
CBID at JHU provides students with a vast network of connections, and a vast community at Hopkins and beyond that is extremely enthused to see your success. To those who may be interested in pursuing a masters in Bioengineering, check out our website because the time to apply is coming soon!
