Johns Hopkins Alumni’s Somnair Raises $4.3M to Develop Sleep Apnea Device

Somnair is on a roll! The CBID startup Somnair, with co-founders Anders Sideris, Mitchell Turley, Phoebe Dijour and Shri Prabha Shivram who all received MS degrees in Biodesign at CBID, were recently featured on ‘citybiz’ as they have raised an incredible $4.3 Million in developing their novel technology in sleep apnea medicine.
CityBiz featured the begining stages of this company, the multidisciplinary joining of students, and how long it ended up taking for them to frame the problem. They spent over 1000 hours shadowing and observing patients struggle with sleep apnea. In this article we got to learn a lot more about their background from Maryland, as MedStar was one of their original investors after they had pitched in Towson University.
