CBID Hosts Prospective MSE Student Interview Day
The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) recently welcomed prospective students to campus for its annual interview day, offering candidates an immersive introduction to the program’s unique approach to healthcare innovation and engineering design.
Throughout the event, prospective students engaged with current teams, fellows, alumni, faculty, clinicians, and staff, gaining firsthand insight into how CBID bridges engineering with real-world clinical challenges. Participants toured the Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as CBID’s workspace in Clark Hall at Homewood, allowing them to experience both the clinical and engineering environments that shape the CBID training experience.
As part of the interview process, students were assigned a real-world healthcare problem and tasked with developing and presenting a one-year strategic plan, including a clinical overview and proposed approach to addressing the challenge. This exercise provided candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate how they would apply bioengineering principles, systems thinking, and collaborative design strategies within the CBID framework.
The day offered prospective students a valuable opportunity to connect with the CBID community, ask questions about the curriculum and program structure, and explore the career impact of a CBID education. We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of innovators and are excited to see the future contributions they will bring to the CBID community.
