Blue Healer Selected for 2026 Winter E-Team Program Cohort
The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) is proud to congratulate Blue Healer on its selection to the 2026 Winter E-Team Program Cohort. This recognition highlights the continued momentum of the venture and its commitment to advancing innovative solutions for limb salvage.
Blue Healer is a CBID-based team focused on developing novel tibial implant technologies designed to improve outcomes for patients requiring complex lower-limb reconstruction. By addressing unmet clinical needs in limb preservation, the team aims to reduce complications and expand treatment options for individuals facing severe orthopedic challenges.
The original Blue Healer team was composed of five CBID students from the Class of 2025. Since graduating, several members have continued to advance the project, with Jay Tailor, Santiago Sanchez, and Mitch Lipke leading ongoing development efforts. Notably, Jay Tailor and Santiago Sanchez are current Abell Fellows, further supporting the venture’s growth through continued innovation and translational work. These three team members remain at the forefront of advancing the technology and expanding its impact.
Selection into the Winter 2026 E-Team cohort reflects both the strength of Blue Healer’s technical approach and its potential to address meaningful clinical challenges. At CBID, we are excited to continue supporting the team’s journey and look forward to their next milestones as they move toward clinical and commercial advancement.
